What is AMERC?

AMERC (Farm Center) is a combination between an ecological farm and a yoga and meditation retreat. It is amongst one of the many projects inspired and founded by Shrii P R Sarkar (also known as Shrii Shrii Anandamurti), the founder of Ananda Marga.

We are an education center and a spiritual training place where a student can learn under the guidance of a qualified and trained Acharya (ordained nun or monk of Ananda Marga), who has been practising yoga disciplines for many years. All the programs offered at the Farm Center are geared towards promoting education and the well-being in all the aspects of the individual's life.

AMERC fulfills its objectives by:
- promoting a facility for events, retreats, courses and workshops imparting skills and concepts related to Yoga, personal development and the creative arts; to support people and projects whose objectives harmonise with those of AMERC,
- offering health services to the public based on the principles of natural healing, yoga and vegetarian diet,
- fostering an international spiritual community living according to the Universal principles of Yoga, - developing and maintaining agricultural projects based on organic farming methods by applying the principles of sustainability and enviromental protection.


Through its projects and activities, AMERC enables individuals to rediscover and express their diverse talents and energies to offer service and develop a positive outlook and cooperative attitude in life. No commitment to a particular belief system is required for participating in any of the activities. AMERC is not a commune, a spa or a sect.




PHILOSOPHY

All facets of life at the Farm Center strives to reflect the central holistic teaching that all life is One and true happiness and inner peace can only be attained by engaging the body, mind and spirit constructively through "subjective approach and objective adjustment".
While fulfiling the mundane responsibilities in life, we continuously endeavor to move forward towards our highest spiritual awareness. This goal in life is a journey towards Self-Realization.

TRADITION

At the Farm center, there is a schedule of activities some of which are mandatory and some which are optional.

Rules of conduct, a code of ethics and a dress code help maintain the spiritual atmosphere of AMERC. Life at the Farm Center also include respect for religious differences, multi-culturalism, multi-ethnicity and multidisciplinary study. It is open, tolerant and disciplined at the same time.


WHO WE ARE?

The Farm Center is a "Master-Unit", a spiritual self-sustainable eco-nucleus in the making for the purpose to serve spiritual seekers - seekers of Peace, Health and Enlightenment. We offer a peaceful, secluded location surrounded by nature, a nurturing place for spiritual growth.

We are part of the International non-profit organisation of Ananda Marga. All our staff and teachers are volunteers. To join staff or help at the Farm Center, please visit the workstudy page. Staff members are dedicated yogis who reside full time at the center and pursue spiritual practices and service to humanity. They help maintain and operate the Farm Center and spread Peace & Joy through the Universal teachings and practices of Tantra Yoga.
